Linda Shamma

Linda Shamma (1979) is an artist and lecturer who's work spans various forms of art, such as museum and gallery exhibitions as well as public works and academic research. She has a master degree in Fine Arts, completed in 2010 at Konstfack.

As an artist, she is best known for her unconventional depictions of figures such as the Virgin Mary. These are at times humourously ambiguous, such as her 'Moose in post-formulated state', a public work that stands at Telefonplan in Stockholm. Her art often thematises issues of identity and normality and thus questions the notion that we have a specific and given origin.

In recent years, her work has mainly revolved around the hybrid as a figure and phenomenon. Currently she works at the Department of Conservation/ Natfak and the Faculty of Arts / HDK, specially engaged in the cluster Curating the city, within the Critical Heritage Initiative at Gothenburg University.
