Ulrika Knutson

Ulrika Knutson is a freelance journalist and author. She has been president of the Swedish Publicists' Association
In April 2015 she became an honorary doctorate at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Gothenburg.

Ulrika will moderate seminars on monday November 16.

Background:
Ulrika Knutson (born 1957) has a Bachelor of Arts in in comparative literature, aesthetics, Scandinavian languages and cinema studies and English.

She began her work as a critic in the 1980s and in 1988 she was hosting the Swedish Televisions venture, Kulturen.
In 1991 she became the host of Filmkrönikan on TV1. In 1993-2002, she held the post of cultural editor of the newspaper Månadsjournalen.

In 2009 she was elected president of the Swedish Publicists' Association, a position she held until 2012. Since 2002, Ulrika Knutson regularly writes critiquein the newspaper Expressen. She also participates in the SR's cultural radio and as a columnist in the Sunday morning DEVICES Good morning, world!

Ulriks Knutson has also worked at the University of Gothenburg. In 2004-2005, she held the guest professorship at JMG, (journalism and media studies at the University of Gothenburg). During this period, she was a frequent guest lecturer at the Faculty institutions and at Jonsered Manor.

She led during this period, a major international conference on reading. Ulrika Knutson has also been a regular guest at Gothenburg University Library, KVINNSAM, where she found materials to the highly acclaimed book Women on the verge of breakthrough. About the Fogelstad Women, (2004), which five years later got a sequel in Emilia Fogelklou. Viewfinder, pathfinders and cross clamps, a selection of Fogelklous essays (ed, 2009)

Ulrika Knutson has received many awards for her work. Among them The Swedish Grand Prize for Journalism in 2001, Gerard Bonnier scholarship for cultural journalism in 2005, Längmanska Culture Fund's major cultural prize in 2009, Jolo Award 2010 and The Karin Gierow price 2011.
